Margaret Teixeira Student-at-law
I have always been dedicated and committed to helping others. This dedication and commitment stems from my strong family values. The strength and desire to succeed led me to pursue my dream of obtaining a law degree.
In December 2009, I graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. I graduated summa cum laude, meaning “with highest honour”, and finished 4th overall in my class of 2010. In law school, I received a number of awards, which include Torts I and II, Civil Procedure, Legal Research and Writing, Appellate Litigation, Commercial Law, Business Administration, and Trial Simulation. I was also on the Dean’s List every semester.
In my final year, I volunteered in the Innocence Project Clinic and Immigration Law Clinic. As a student attorney, I represented two Mexican citizens in their appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
My undergraduate degrees include Honours Bachelor of Arts from University of Toronto, with a major in Criminology and in Employment Relations; Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson, with a major in Human Resources and a minor in Business Law; and a diploma in Business Administration Co-op from Humber College.
Some of my hobbies include traveling, enjoying the company of family and friends, listening to music, and fine dining. I am fluent in Aramaic, and understand a little bit of Arabic and Turkish.
This desire to succeed is evident in my academic life as well as in my personal and professional life. I strive to do the best I can and I look forward to doing this at DeRusha Law Firm.
